Areas of concern when evaluating a used piano: 1)Sound board- cracked or a loss of crown. (diminishes tone and quality of sound) 2)Tuning pins- Loose tuning pins, loss of torque. (tuning will not hold) 3)Strings- Unwound base strings. (decrease of volume in bass section) 4)Bridge- Cracked or split (buzzing when strings are affected) 5)Pin Block- Concealed split in pin block. (virtually impossible to tune) 6)Action- Worn or misused, difficult to regulate, hammers striking strings improperly. (poor playing performance) 7)Hammers- Worn out, matted, susceptible to moths. (Shallow and uneven tone) 8) Warranty- None. (Labor and parts responsibility to owner)
